Never Too Much Butt

«You got to go to Pappy’s»,  is what I heard as soon as touched down at Lambert International Airport in St. Louis. My friend Ron as well as his family and friends urged me to visit this iconic restaurant specialized in ribs and BBQ.

The first thing which caught my eye when we pulled up to Pappy’s on Olive St. in downtown St. Louis was the line which snaked around the building. My fear of waiting for hours was unfounded. It took less then 15 minutes until we were asked to place an order at a friendly cashier’s desk. Since I was in St. Louis I had to try the famous dry-rub ribs. A full slab of 12 ribs came with two sides. We opted for green beans with bacon and vinegar coleslaw. The manager educated us about the 16 hours it takes to smke the ribs.

The full slab (which we shared) did not disappoint. The meat was so tender, when touching, it literally fell off. «Hoodoo» with a distinctive kick was my choice of four BBQ sauces offered.

I got to be honest with you, the ribs are a culinary highlight and could be even classified as «food orgasm» for those who love a great BBQ.

Besides outstanding ribs, Pappy’s offers friendly services with smiling faces and a variety of other BBQ meats such as pulled pork/chicken, turkey breast or beef hot links.

I could not resist in taking home a t-shirt stating: «There’s No Such Thing … As Too Much Butt»

When in St. Louis visit Pappy’s.
